Get Your Brand Cited in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity & Google AI Overviews

Generative Engine Optimization

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of getting your brand mentioned and recommended inside answers generated by AI engines like ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews, Gemini, and Perplexity. Traditional SEO gets you ranked in a list of links; GEO gets you cited in the single answer the AI gives, increasingly where people now start their search.

This matters more every month. A growing share of searches never reach a list of website links: the user asks an AI, gets a synthesised answer, and acts on it. If your business is not part of what those models cite, you are invisible to that audience no matter how well you rank on classic Google. GEO is how you stay visible as search shifts.

What GEO involves, and what we do

At SAM Web Studio, we approach GEO as a technical and editorial discipline, not a buzzword. Our work includes:

  • Structured data and entity optimisation so AI systems can clearly understand who you are and what you do
  • An llms.txt file and clean, machine-readable site structure for AI crawlers
  • Citation-ready content: clear definitions, factual claims, and answer-shaped writing that models can quote
  • Authority and corroboration building across the sources AI engines trust
  • Tracking and reporting where and how your brand appears in AI answers

GEO vs AEO vs traditional SEO

These overlap but are not the same. Traditional SEO optimises for ranking in Google's classic search results. AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) targets direct answers like featured snippets and voice results. GEO targets citation and recommendation inside AI-generated answers. Strong traditional SEO is the foundation both AEO and GEO build on, and we handle all three as one connected strategy.

Why work with us

We are a hands-on, technical team that has built and optimised websites since 2012. The same people who plan your GEO strategy also work directly with your site's code, structured data, and server, so the technical foundation AI engines depend on is done properly, not outsourced. If you want your business to show up as AI search reshapes how customers find you, send us your site and we will assess where you stand.

Generative Engine Optimization FAQ's

Can you guarantee my brand will appear in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?

No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. AI engines choose what to cite using their own models, and nobody outside those companies controls that. What we can do is make your business the kind of source they draw on: clearly structured, factually specific, corroborated elsewhere, and machine-readable.

That is the same honest position we take on rankings. We control the inputs, not the outcome.

Traditional SEO competes for a place in a list of ten blue links. GEO competes to be named inside the single synthesised answer an AI gives, where there is no list and often only two or three sources cited.

The practical difference is that AI engines reward unambiguous factual claims, clear entity data and content written in a way that can be quoted directly. Ranking pages are often written to hold attention; cited pages are written to be extracted.

No. Every AI engine we work with draws heavily on conventional search results and on the same signals that drive them. A site that ranks nowhere is rarely cited.

GEO is a layer on top of solid SEO, not a substitute for it. If your technical foundation is weak, that is where we start regardless of what you came to us for.

By tracking whether your brand actually appears. We run a defined set of prompts your customers would realistically ask across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, record which sources get cited, and repeat it on a schedule so you can see movement.

It is a less tidy metric than a ranking position, and we would rather tell you that than dress it up. AI answers vary between runs and between users.

Structured data and technical changes are picked up within weeks. Being cited more often is slower, because it depends on models refreshing and on corroboration building across other sources — realistically a few months.

Anyone promising AI citations in thirty days is guessing.
